Activity Title: Eco-historians
Subject Area: German History and the Cold War divide
Your Investigation:
The Cold War is something that many students have heard about but have very little knowledge about, aside from perhaps a few key terms like Reagan, the USSR, and perhaps even East Germany. In this scenario, you will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the physical divide that existed between the Cold War nations by examining an organization that is doing its best to repair the environmental damage that occurred. By investigating the website of this organization, you will be able to discover what is the European Greenbelt Project? How does this Greenbelt relate to the Inner German Border as defined by the history of the Cold War?
You hear it everywhere: global warming is taking its toll. There are organizations that are doing everything in their power to make up for what people didn't know or consider in our past. You can help spread the word about the good that is happening in the world, while simultaneously gaining an understanding about how this damage relates to the history of Germany.
